Once you hit certain points on the tree, you progress time forward. As your apes learn, they gain neural energy, used to build the neurons in the skill tree. The further you manage to travel from the first destination you unlock new starting areas. This is the one true joy I had during my evolutionary path, the exploration. The world is massive and beautifully rendered. You will figure out how to make sticks, bash open coconuts, and everything else that brought us forward towards the technology we have today.
